“I don’t think you ever truly realised what a huge impact you had on me. Thank you for helping to inspire so many people through your resilience, humour and love. Your pal, Lewis”

The inspiration behind The Lewis Moody Foundation was 16 year old Joss who devastatingly passed away just after his birthday in April 2013. Joss would have been 21 on the 6 March 2018 and in memory and celebration of his life his mum and Dad, Graeme and Tiffany, have set up Joss’s 21st Birthday Challenge.

“We would love to remember Joss’ 21st Birthday year as a celebration and couldn’t think of anything more fitting than raising money for The Lewis Moody Foundation, which he inspired. Together, we hope to inspire 21 fundraising events over the year raising a total of £21,000!

We would welcome any person, group or company to join in the challenge and help raise money and awareness. By joining us in remembering Joss you will be raising vital funds to help others, be it through one of The Foundations Family Days, the life-saving Headsmart Campaign or in funding vital research to help find new treatments.”

How you can take part

It’s so simple, just put on a fundraiser or make a donation [link to JG campaign] sometime this year to help us get a step closer to our ambitious goal. Together, we hope to inspire 21 fundraising events or activities over the year raising a total of £21,000!

21 is the magic number so why not:

  • Aim to raise £210 or even £2100.

  • Hold a fundraising cake bake at work or home and sell 21 different cakes.

  • Take on your own sponsored challenge and, cycle or run 21 miles or swim 21 laps. Or get 21 people to join you in a relay and each get sponsored or pay small entry fee to join the team.

  • Find a local run and get 21 people to sponsor you £21 for taking part.

  • Put on a pub quiz with 21 questions. Charge friends, family and colleagues for tickets and hold a raffle on the night to boost fundraising.

  • Hold a raffle or auction with 21 prizes. Ask local restaurant, hotels and shops to donate prizes and then sell tickets or hold the auction at work, school or at any clubs you go to.

  • Have a 21 themed day at work combining some fun competitions and fundraising activities. Colleagues could bring in pictures of them at 21 and people donate £1 to the one they think is funniest, staff pay to dress up in clothes from the year you were 21 or have a darts competition with the aim to score 21!

  • Have a fun Blackjack poker night with all the entry fees and winnings donated to The Foundation. Sell food and drinks on the night to raise even more.

  • Hold a 1997 retro fancy dress party, sell tickets and retro drinks to add to the theme from the year Joss was born.

  • Share the challenge with your family and friends to help us reach our goal – can you get 21 people joining you in fundraising?

  • Make a £21 donation

From a cake bake to climbing a mountain, a fashion show to a sponsored swim, a dress down day to a pub quiz - whatever works for you, however big or small it will all make a difference for those affected by brain tumours now and in the future.
